The first movie to ever be released on VHS was “The Young Teacher.” 30 years later, the last movie to be released was “A History of Violence” in 2006. It was a terrific way for people to enjoy cinema of all kinds for many years. It provided a way for families to enjoy each other’s company and couples to go on dates.

There is no denying its introduction in 1976 was one of the greatest advances in technology that many homes took advantage of. It truly has played an important part in the history of technology.

However, improvements needed to be made and technology has allowed this to happen. There is no longer any manufacturing of these tapes and it is probably for the better. They only provided a limited amount of quality and the DVD and Blu-Ray is far more superior.

For the time being DVD is dominating the industry. However, the demise of VHS has shown how quickly a piece of technology can dissipate. It is only a matter of time before some new form of entertainment is released and DVD follows in the footsteps of VHS.
